As students perfected their skills at writing scientific procedures, we took a break and decided to write directions for building a s'morewich snack. While working in pairs, students wrote step by step directions explaining how to put together the sandwich. Then they traded cards! At that point, they could only follow what was written on their cards. That's where it got interesting!
